The 102nd Auxiliary Squadron was quick to respond to the call for help of CGADNCR-CL in assisting the Philippine Coast Guard augment its oil spill containment efforts and relief operations to the affected communities of the Oriental Mindoro Oil Spill.
The Squadron, through its partners and donors, has turned over a total of 200 sacks of 5 kilos rice and 200 assorted canned goods last March 9 and March 10 at the Coast Guard Community Relations Service. Aside from the donations in kind, the Squadron has also pledged a certain amount of cash to CGADNCR-CL to augment in the purchasing of additional relief packs. Moreover, its Director Auxiliary Squadron, Auxiliary Commodore Emmanuel Velante, was designated Task Force Commander of CGADNCR-CL's TF Mindoro Oil Spill.

Marine Environmental Protection, Maritime Community Relations, Maritime Search and Rescue, and Youth Development Programs are now on a roll for Barangay Nangka. The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) gears its experts and volunteers nationwide to assist the Coast Guard in community assistance and oil spill response in Oriental Mindoro. PCGA National Director, Auxiliary Vice Admiral Manuel Luis P. Idquival, mobilized the 15 Auxiliary Districts immediately after Coast Guard Commandant, Admiral Artemio M. Abu, called for assistance and support. PCGA Support Groups were activated to render assistance on oil spill containment measures, relief operations, and medical missions. Physically able volunteers have also signed up to undergo Oil Spill Containment Training in preparation for possible deployment in Oriental Mindoro to augment the PCG forces in the area. "Time is of the essence and our Mother Nature is waiting," he said in his call for support. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR-Central Luzon (CGADNCR-CL) expressed full support on efforts to help contain the said oil spill. Its Director Auxiliary District, Auxiliary Commodore Joy C. Puno, has committed to donate oil spill containment and cleaning materials as well as food packs to the affected residents of coastal communities. "Rest assured taht CGADNCR-CL is one with the PCGA, the PCG, and the national government in helping our marine life and coastal communities in Mindoro Oriental endure this tragic incident; we shall unwaveringly extend our helping hand to our fellow marine environment volunteers in CGAD Southern Tagalog (CGADSTL)," he said. - ACYFT, 10 March 2023 What demotivates a volunteer?

Auxiliary Commodore Emmanuel Velante, Squadron Director of the 102nd Auxiliary Squadron, discussed how leaders can best handle these situations especially in a volunteer organization. The LEADERSHIP IN A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION was given to the officers and auxiliarists of 102nd Squadron's Marikina Division at their headquarters in Barangay Nangka, Marikina. "Unless we keep this planet healthy, everything else is for naught."
- Victoria Principal The 102nd Auxiliary Squadron joins the Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR-Central Luzon in celebrating the 55th Founding Anniversary of its PCG counterpart, CGDNCR-CL, with underwater and coastal cleanup activities today, March 4. About 11 Squadrons trooped at the Dolomite Beach in Roxas Boulevard, Manila - a unified show of force in protecting the marine environment. The event was also gathered marine environment advocates from the CGDNCR-CL, Coast Guard Station Manila, Coast Guard Station Malacanang, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Members of the 102nd Squadron have also made new friends among the MMDA City Sweepers and Manila Bay Beach during the coastal cleanup activity. "102nd Squadron, now is your time" this was the declaration of AUX COMMO EMMANUEL T VELANTE PCGA, Director the 102nd Squadron, during his speech on the "legendary" night where the group welcomed 2023 with unity, laughter, and a commitment to remain true to the mission of the PCG and the PCGA.
The event themed "Be the Force" was held last January 23, 2023 at the Gallery MiraNila by the Blue Leaf in Quezon City with over 140 PCG, PCGA, CGADNCR-CL, and Squadron officers, auxiliarists, and new member applicants present. AUX COMMO VELANTE PCGA emphasized that as with many years past, the Squadron will continue to serve with much dedication and passion "without an expectation for rewards, fuss, or fun fare". "We did not, and will ever, aim to be the best. We simply want to be legendary," he said in reference to the unique accomplishments of the Squadron at the height of the pandemic. The theme "Be the Force" marks the Squadron's initiative to man its rosters with professionals who can serve as the force behind assisting the PCG units it has established partnership with such as CG Medical, CG Aviation Force, CG Special Operations Force, CG Legal Services, CG Fleet, and CG District NCR-Central Luzon. The event was hosted by AUX CAPT GIL ROBERTO ZERRUDO PCGA one of the legal luminaries of the Squadron and the Deputy Support Group Director for Internal Affairs Service of the PCGA. He is also the chief legal officer of the Auxiliary. "It was a great event.
